Can therapy help me?
People often decide to begin therapy out of a desire to make big or small changes in their lives in a safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate environment. Psychotherapy is a process of transformation, increasing self-awareness, and making positive changes which will improve the quality of your life.
While the goals for therapy differ for each individual, they may include a desire to:
–Improve relationships with your partner, your family, or yourself
-Cope with loss, death, or divorce
-Reduce stress or anxiety
-Change negative thought patterns
-Cope with pregnancy, motherhood, or infertility
-Deal with life transitions such as career changes, moving, or relationship issues
-Improve your overall feeling of well being
We will create a therapy plan to help you start making tangible improvements within a short period of time. Based on your needs, I will use the techniques that are tailored to your therapy goals.
I have tried therapy before and feel stuck. Is it really possible to change?
Our human experience requires adaptation and transformation from environmental and internal changes. This can be a rocky process that makes us feel stuck. Often, coping strategies from the past that served us no longer serve a purpose, but we find it difficult to grasp them and change them to new thought patterns and behaviors. Our brains “prefer” to travel our old pathways; they are known and well-paved in our brains.
Therapy allows us to travel these pathways together and get to know them as an observer. This, in turn, helps you let go of the parts that no longer serve you and transform them into new pathways that can serve you better. The most amazing discovery about the brain is that now we know that new experiences, thoughts, and feelings rewire it and this new architectural structure makes us live a different life.
I believe that positive change is possible and can support you to make improvements from the inside out. I feel humbled and honored to work intimately with women who seek to shift from surviving to thriving and are eager to live more authentically and freely.

How long will therapy last?
Therapy with me is aimed at making a real, tangible difference from the start. We will work on a plan together with clear goals and practical strategies for getting the happy life you deserve. Therapy is a partnership, and your success will also depend on the work you put into it. Most clients experience tangible improvements after only a few sessions.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a process led by a trained and licensed psychotherapist which focuses on gaining insight of the internal emotional world for the client. This insight together with the unique relationship with the therapist allows for positive change and a greater sense of wellbeing. Psychotherapy looks to understand the present situation through the light of the history of the person. Psychotherapy is a deep process of self-discovery and healing. It is highly recommended to process intense emotions, such as sadness, grief, anxiety, and anger, as well as gaining clarity to make important decisions, gain insight into relationships to better manage conflict, and improve interpersonal relationships. Psychotherapy is also wonderful for improving communication skills.
What is the difference between psychotherapy and coaching?
Therapy is a process where a client works with a licensed health care professional to identify and resolve problematic beliefs, emotions, behaviors, and relationship issues. Therapy usually involves introspection and working through negative feelings to transform destructive thought patterns and behaviors into habits that promote happiness and success.
Life coaches help clients clarify goals and identify obstacles to achieve desired results. A life coach does not need to be licensed.
How long are therapy sessions?
Sessions last 50 minutes for individuals, 75 minutes for Femunnity groups, and 90 minutes for process groups.
How do I begin?
You can e-mail me or call me. We talk over the phone for 15 minutes to assess if it might a good fit. Then we find a time for you to come to my office if you are in Austin or a time to meet online. We meet for 55 minutes and talk about what is concerning you. It is from here that the process starts to unfold. Clients typically come once or twice a week.
What is your cancelation policy?
Things come up and I try to be as flexible as possible in rescheduling sessions or canceling them. I have a 24-hour cancelation polity which means that you need to cancel 24 hours in advance. Sessions that are not canceled 24 hours in advanced need to be paid in full.
