“Those who have a strong sense of love and belonging have the courage to be imperfect.” – Brené Brown
Groups provide fertile grounds for the human spirit. They are a wonderful way to gain insight about yourself and the way you are perceived by others. Process groups address each member’s circumstances and also attend to the relationships among members at the moment during group. This combination helps members gain insight into themselves and others and is a real eye-opener to blind spots one might have to overcome challenges. Groups also help members grow their awareness about their needs and feelings.
Groups also provide a unique setting for people to work through their struggles in a safe way with others who are in a similar journey. The support that a group offers is carried in between sessions. For example, a client who is anxious about dating and has dates in between group sessions can take the voices of the other group members with her as she dates. Or a woman going through a fertility procedure after losses and trauma can take the group support with her as she goes through the procedure and then report back to the group. I know that the idea to be in a group with strangers can be intimidating at first but clients often find that group therapy is a very helpful and rewarding experience. Groups can be supportive, serve as a sounding board, help you to move forward by learning how others cope and deal with similar circumstances and provide a real sense of intimacy and belonging. Groups are ideal for people who want to work in their relationships, are looking for support, feel isolated or just want the experience for personal growth and self-knowledge. Groups decrease isolation, provide support, connection and inspiration. They normalize suffering helping us heal in community.
Process Groups meet typically have 4 to 10 members and meet for 90 minute sessions once a week. Contact me for more information.

Femunnity is a platform and a community that was born out of these needs with the main goal of supporting women’s mental health, nourishing them so they can remain healthy and thrive in their lives. The idea is to offer practical tools and a safe space for women to come together authentically and intimately. Femunnity is an initiative to make mental health more available to women and mothers. Femunnity offers coaching groups with a focus on self-renewal and mindfulness. I offer groups in person in my office in Austin and online.
